Hello My Lovely's,

The UK Jewish Film Festival is soon going to be upon us and I wanted to let you all know about it!

Starting on the 30th of October and ending on the 17th of November, the festival is going to be housing some of the best films of the past year!

The Opening Night Gala at the BFI Southbank will be presenting the UK Premiere of 'The Jewish Cardinal' from award winning director Ilan Duran Cohen. The film tells the historical story of Jean-Marie Lustiger, the Jewish-born head of the French Church and close confidant of Pope John-Paul II.

The festival will then follow with an exciting array of films and events throughout the course of the two weeks before ending on a high with the Closing Night Gala presenting the UK Premiere of Eytan Fox’s Cupcakes. A heart-warming musical comedy about the guilty pleasures in life.

The UK Jewish Film Festival is not the only festival gala to be announced this week...

  • The Bank Leumi UK Gala: Opens on the 2nd of November with the début feature from Czech writer/director David Ondricek, 'In The Shadow'. Set in the dark Stalinist days of early 1950’s Prague, the film has been inspired by films such as 'Psycho', 'Seven' and 'Blade Runner'.
  • The Centrepiece Gala: Takes place on the 9th of November with 'Fill The Void' which is followed by a review discussion with leading UK film critic. The film is directed by Rama Burshtein and was selected for the official Israeli submission for this year’s Academy Awards.
  • An Exclusive Preview of The Congress: The preview will be held as part of the Imax Gala on the 10th of November. It was selected as the opening film at this year’s Cannes Directors’ Fortnight and with such a magnificent cast the film is fantastic. Based on the searing indictment of the film business and Hollywood.
The festival is proud to bring the best world cinema to diverse audiences of all ages! Presenting 66 films, in which 40 of them are premieres, from countries ranging from Argentina, Israel, USA, UK, Germany, France and the Czech Republic.

Look out for the full film programme on the 16th of September, the same day tickets will be released!

Until Next Time...
