X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST REVIEW...
22:49:00Hey Lovelies,
‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’ is about to give a whole new
look to the 70s however not all of it is impressive. While the cast and special
effects are perfect, the film is hard to get into and is at times a little
boring.
Although I say that with some regrets, as there are some
incredible bits, all of which seem to be when we are in the world of the 70s.
The film uses the characters from ‘X-Men: First Class’ in a brilliant way but
is let down by them bringing back the old faces, which may seem odd, but actually
was a huge thing for me as an audience member.
As said above it was nice, to see the cast of ‘X-Men: First
Class’ back on the big screen, as McAvoy, Fassbender, Lawrence and Hoult have a
special connection that I feel is missed when the old actors return to screen.
They made the laughs and interest in the film, where the others lacked. And
they allowed new characters to be introduced who were also interesting, because
they were different and knew how to draw the newer audiences in to the
franchises.
While many of you will be expecting the old cast members to
appear a lot, they are actually only in it for about 30mins in total. They have
hardly any dialogue and at times, leave the audience in a state of confusion at
what they are seeing. It was like the
crew knew what they needed to do, but didn’t put it into effect.
And considering that Wolverine was meant to be a huge figure
in the film, I ended up finding him a little annoying (Not Hugh Jackman
though!) as the film made him out to be a God like figure against Charles
Xavier who is obviously the best character other than Magneto but that is a
personal view aha (Fassbender Love!).
It was easy to see that the reason behind this was all the
effort that was put into the special effects of the film, which actually turned
out to be brilliant considering the acting within the scenes created by some.
The two worlds were stylish and crazy, placing us into the world of X-Men
almost automatically. A key scene which showed this was the prison scene, which
I won’t go into much detail as I don’t want to ruin for people who haven’t seen
it, but the effects within this scene caused everyone to laugh out loud.
Ironically as well it was set in the 70s universe which seemed to be the best
place for the effects.
And therefore the film while it had everything in it and
everyone in it that should have made it a huge hit, it was left a little bit
boring and not what I was expecting. I wanted bigger moments between stars and
clashes between the two worlds, however that wasn’t the case and that made it a
bit of a let-down. It is nothing like ‘X-Men: First Class’ which left me
excited and on the edge of my seat, and I can only pray that ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’
returns to this.
Overall I am giving ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’…
3 Stars
