ROCK OUT OR DINE WITH THE BAFTAS...

13:57:00

Hey Lovelies,

There is a lot of BAFTA news floating around today and I have two of those pieces to share with you! One will make you want to rock out and the other will make you put on a fancy dress and sit down for dinner! So which situation would you like to be in?

Let's start with the rocking out, as Kasabian have been announced as this year’s performers at the award ceremony. Made up of Tom Meighan, Sergio Pizzorno, Chris Edwards and Ian Matthews, the band will follow in the footsteps of some musical legends, including Paloma Faith, Tom Jones and Tinie Tempah, who got a high five from Prince William during his performance last year!

Speaking about the announcement the band said: “As massive fans of British cinema it is a great honour to open the BAFTAs and celebrate the achievements in film over the last 12 months.”

This is a huge announcement for the band, who have been awarded ‘Best Act in the World Today’ and ‘Best Live Act’ awards at the recent Q Awards, and took to the Glastonbury stage last year as headliners.

We will all have to watch them perform on the 8th February at the ceremony, which is aired on BBC One, to see who they will high five or head bang with!

Now it is time to put your dinner party dress or suit on, because not only will the stars be rocking out, but they will be attending the BAFTA Film Gala Dinner, to support the ‘Give Something Back’ campaign on the 5th February at BAFTA 195 Piccadilly.

The funds raised during the dinner will be used to help young people from all over get involved with the moving image industries, as they will work with some of the best talent in film, television and game to build their careers.

And the stars are making it clear just how much they support it as Andy Serkis, Emilia Fox, Henry Cavill, Imelda Staunton, Joanna Lumley, Miranda Hart, Miranda Richardson, Natalie Dormer, Natasha McElhone, Olivia Colman, Simon Pegg and Tom Hiddleston, have confirmed that they will be attending.

Each guest will enjoy a dinner followed by live and silent auctions to win prizes from both film and television lots. The prizes are pretty impressive as they include tickets to the EE BAFTA Film Awards, a set visit to watch Downton Abbey being filmed, a private screening of the next James Bond film and a number of lunches and dinners with some pretty impressive actors. They will then be treated to live entertainment from The London Cabaret Club, followed by a party!

Speaking about the dinner BAFTA President HRH The Duke of Cambridge said: “Today, more than ever, young people and career starters need to be nurtured and supported to achieve their potential and succeed. As a leading charity in its field, BAFTA is perfectly placed to make a difference.”

The whole event will be celebrating not only the charity but the build up to the award ceremony which is on the 8th February! Sponsors include Cushman & Wakefield, the Emicapital Foundation, as well as support from Champagne Taittinger, Fisher Productions, The London Cabaret Club, Mad Dog Casting, Smythson and Villa Maria Wines.

Who can’t wait for BAFTA week now? I CAN’T!
