THE MENU FIT FOR THE STARS! TAKE A LOOK AT THE BAFTA AWARD CEREMONY MENU...

Hey Lovelies,

On Monday I experienced something that I never thought I would experience in my life! Joined by some of the most amazing ladies in the industry, I was invited to come and speak to those who would be making the meals for the 1950 guests that will be attending the ceremony, and I have to say I am super jealous of those who will get to eat this!

Created by Executive Chef Nigel Boschetti and his team of 25 chefs, including Chef Jon from Hotel Chocolat and Chef Anton, the BAFTAs will have one of the hottest and most mouth-watering menus of this award season. With the best of British in mind, the group have been working since last year to perfect every little detail, before placing their orders in December to prepare for the meal, which will take up to the day before to get just right.

Working with them to get this perfection is the drinks team, including Fortnum and Masons who have been working to create a BAFTA inspired tea, which features a mixture of black tea and golden/yellow tea, to create an exotic blend that is described as both “mellow and fragrant”. The perfect drink to have before hitting the bubbly that has been provided by Champagne Taittinger and Villa Maria! Working with the food team, the drinks have been selected to fit the menu and tastes of each food, as well as to make the table look incredible as Champagne Taittinger has created a special BAFTA bottle for the night.

And that isn’t the only thing that has been created for the night! Hotel Chocolat has been working all year with a new chocolate that will be tried on the night, in the light mousse the guests will be having as a dessert. 100kg of chocolate will be used to make these on the night and I can ensure you all, that it will all get eaten as well!

Returning to the menu though and the guests will be served with this menu upon arrival at the hotel after the ceremony…
  • Starter: Terrine of Roasted and Smoked Salmon with Avocado and Crab Salad
  • Vegetarian Starter: Smoked Cheese Arancini, Celeriac and Granny Smith Apple Salad, Port Wine Glaze and Walnut Oil Dressing.
  • Main Course: Trio of Beef; Braised Short Rib, Beef Shin with a Herb Crust, Beef Fillet, Green Beans, Baby Carrots, Gratin Dauphinoise.
  • Vegetarian Main Course: Roast Sweet Potato, Red Onion and Taleggio Tart, Smoked Garlic and Chive Butter Sauce, Green Beans, Baby Carrots, Gratin Dauphinoise.
  • Dessert: Iced Cacao Nib Parfait with 90% Hotel Chocolat Hacienda Chocolate Mousse, Milk Puree and Kirsch Soaked Cherries.

And if they are not full after that the guests will be served with canapés upon arrival and throughout the meal, which includes…
  • Aly Farm Monmouthshire Beech Smoked Air Dried Ham Wrapped Around Crispy Onion Breadsticks With Apple Chutney
  • Rare Roasted Fillet of 30 Day Aberdeen Angus Beef from Brechin on Crispy Potato With Onion Marmalade, Watercress and Horseradish Cream.
  • Smoked Severn and Wye Salman Tartar, Granary Croute, Cucumber Pickle, Fennel Fronds and Beetroot Caviar.
  • Cotswold Quails Egg with Dill Mayonnaise and Tomato Pickle Served In A Crispy Berkswell Cheese Cup.

All of the food on the night has been fit to each person, and Chef Anton states that due to this there has been no disasters so far, and from the looks of this menu there doesn’t look like there is going to be any this year either. While the tables on the night can be moved around to fit each person, the food stays the same for many, and allergies and health are thought about well in advance, including the weirdest requests that the team state “aren’t actually that weird”.

Most of the dishes above are low carb and full of protein, so the winners will be ready to run any race after the rush of winning and this meal. The meat has been cooked for 10 to 12 hours beforehand and the team suggest that this is the key thing to do if you are planning your own dinner party.

Whether it is to celebrate the BAFTAs or just a night in, the team state that if you cook the food the night before, it will save time during your own evening which means that you can have more fun, just like I am sure the chefs here will. Though they do warn, don’t drink and cook!

Each year Amanda Berry gathers compliments for the whole team on the night, who have brought the food to life from the stars and I can see why! It is going to be a tasty night for all of those attending and while the numbers may be high, this team will be sure that everything will be perfect.

I decided to contact Head Chef Nigel, to ask him a few questions about the award ceremony and menu, which you can catch below. The video is up on the blog’s Youtube page, so if you want to go there you can lovelies.

I am not the person asking the questions, that is some lovely people who allowed me to go to the event, but the questions are mine, so I hope you enjoy it…

Everyone that goes is definitely in for a treat and I hope that they all enjoy it, because it looked delicious!
