TWO NIGHT STAND REVIEW...

11:56:00

Hey Lovelies,

As a huge fan of Miles Teller, I was excited to see his latest film ‘Two Night Stand’, as it reflected a few of the same traits that are also shown in one of my favourite indie romance films ‘500 Days of Summer’. However while this film manages to make you laugh a few times and presents an original idea that some rom-coms haven’t produced in years, it is lacking something.

The film follows two people who meet online and decide to have a one night stand that ends up being two nights after a snow blizzard traps them in the flat. When the pair begins to discuss the issues they have with the other, they give it another go and ultimately end up falling for each other. But it isn’t as straight forward as that and this is where the plot starts to become similar to other films. The two have to work their way back to each other in a short amount of time, but their methods are a little bit cliché.

While the start of the film and the majority of it is fresh and funny, the ending is where the plot begins to go downhill, as it is similar to a lot of recent films. There is only one way you see this ending up and once it starts to go down that route, it happens very quickly, meaning the laughs and fun that is shown at the start are left behind.

I don’t feel that this is a downfall on the acting, which is great from these two stars, but I think it is in fact an issue with the script and plot details, because they just seem very rushed and messy, when it could have been as clever as the rest of the film.

Going back to the acting, Miles Teller has an instant knack of playing the leading man that reflects his talents and his chemistry with co-star Analeigh Tipton. Tipton also plays a great character, however it would have been nice to see her on her own for a bit instead of always around the other characters, because she can do superb acting.

Overall I felt that the film was a very fresh idea and funny rom-com for a modern piece, but it lacked at times, especially the ending, where it could have been stronger. It has a rushed feeling that even 10 extra minutes could have solved.

Therefore I am giving the film…

3 Stars

The film is out in cinemas and VOD on the 13th February! Catch the trailer below...
