Good Afternoon Lovelies,

After a whirlwind of cocktails, heavy food and constant Christmas themed partying, it’s hardly surprising that you may want to give the infamous ‘Dry January’ a go. But what to do when the pub is simply off limits?

Well here at Let's Start With This One we’ve teamed up with #MovieWeekender to provide you with our list of Top 10 Films so exciting, that you won’t miss that next big night out (I will admit lovelies, that I didn’t write this, as I believe the person who did deserves the credit!). So, grab your popcorn and detox herbal tea, and prepare yourself for your next movie night in.

Dunkirk: Christopher Nolan’s war epic contains an underlining sense of urgency and tempo throughout, thanks to Hans Zimmer’s incredible score. Combined with its wordless structure and huge set pieces, it will keep you hanging on to the edge of your seat until the bitter end. You don’t need an IMAX screen to appreciate one of the best films of 2017.

Fast & Furious 8: We challenge you to find a more thrilling experience than watching Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, Vin Diesel, Jason Statham, Michelle Rodriguez & Ludacris racing around Cuba and Iceland in ridiculous over the top cars. Beats that £20 you spent getting into an empty club.

War For The Planet Of The Apes: Dubbed a “psychological western turned war movie - featuring monkeys” upon its release, the third instalment to the Planet Of The Apes reboot series surprised many fans as arguably being the best one to date. With a fantastic motion capture performance from Andy Serkis, make sure to include this one in your next night in for 140mins you won’t regret.

Fantastic Beasts & Where To Find Them: With the next instalment of the Harry Potter spin-off slated for 2018, why not catch-up on the title that kicked off the series, which you may have missed in cinemas. Set in  1920’s New York, the film showcases some fantastic performances and stunning CGI based magic that cements the Potter franchise as a future classic. Perfect for your next Potter themed house party, just don’t invite your No-Majs’ mates.

Spiderman: Homecoming: A breakthrough performance for Tom Holland as Marvel throws everyone’s friendly neighbourhood Spiderman into the MCU. Featuring the usual web-slinging and awe inspiring rooftop shots, this movie will keep you entertained right to the explosive end. One to certainly watch before Infinity War lands this summer.

Wonder Woman: Keeping with the superhero theme we had to include the fantastic Wonder Woman, one of the year’s most impressive blockbusters. With its incredible WW1 set-pieces, fantastic fight scenes and a glorious bad-ass performance from Gal Gadot – this is one title not to be missed. Make sure to check out the exclusive epilogue, Etta's Mission found only on the DVD/BD which sets up Justice League rather nicely.

Baby Driver: Somewhere between a heist capper and musical lies Baby Driver, the latest offering from Edgar Wright. Set to a brilliant soundtrack that is synced up perfectly to the action on-screen, this bares repeating once again from the safety of your own home. Bonus points if you have a decent audio system set-up, as this highly enjoyable watch could challenge that gig you’ve been on the fence for the last few months.

Alien: Covenant: Set 10 years after the events of Prometheus, Alien: Covenant lands as the perfect bridge between the original Alien. With a killer cast and the usual xenomorph jump-scare action, this should keep you entertained way into your next Friday night. Booze free too!

Transformers: The Last Knight: If transforming robots fighting it out with the help of King Arthur and Merlin doesn’t spark your interest than we’re not sure what will. A thrill ride from beginning to end, make sure to check out ‘The Royal Treatment’ featurette found on the DVD, showcasing the diverse UK filming locations used throughout.

Logan: Going back to basics with the superhero genre, Logan featured a much more gritty and violent entry into the X-Men series. With Hugh Jackman staring once again as The Wolverine, this latest tale had our hero team up with the mysterious girl Laura who somehow is connected to Logan. Repeated watching is certainly required, and with a special black and white cut featured on the bonus disk this really is a great addition to any night in.

The Hitman’s Bodyguard: Ryan Reynolds & Sam Jackson team up in this hilarious action-comedy which earns the distinction of being the “first shoot-’em-up” to reroute its leads via Coventry City Centre. The premise is simple: Jackson plays the hitman, Reynolds plays his bodyguard, and they both need to get from London to the Hague without getting killed. You’ll be laughing from start to finish. So get your mates round and dial-in those pizzas!

American Assassin: Like the Bourne trilogy? Then you’ll love this great action movie from last year. Lead Dylan O’Brien starts film getting engaged to his girlfriend only for terrorists to arrive with assault rifles. Directed by Michael Cuesta who was responsible for arguably the best episodes of Homeland, this will keep you hooked way past last orders at the bar.

Logan Lucky: Steven Soderbergh jumps back into the director’s chair for this blue-collar Ocean’s Eleven heist movie. With some fantastic performances from its central characters, this is worth alone seeing for a Southern accented Daniel Craig. Way better than any club you may find yourself in this cold January.
